Face, underarms and bikini
Areas include the upper lip, chin, sideburns, underarms and bikini line. We also offer Brazilian laser hair removal after assessing the external areas you want treated.
Shaving, waxing and plucking can leave irritation, ingrown hairs and stubble that returns quickly. At Ample Urgent & Primary Care, we offer laser hair removal with a Quanta laser at 10 Princeton Street in West Hartford. We start with an in-person assessment of your skin, hair and the areas you want treated.
Treatments are performed or directly supervised by Dr. Mojdeh Heidari, DNP, FNP-C. Call to arrange an assessment.
The laser delivers light that is absorbed by pigment in the hair. The energy becomes heat and damages the follicle, reducing future growth. Hair follicles move through different growth stages, so one session cannot target every hair effectively.
Several sessions can reduce the amount and thickness of hair. Some hair can grow back, and maintenance may be needed. Treatment aims for long-term reduction, not permanent removal of every hair.

We offer laser hair removal for face and body areas. Tell us which areas you want treated so we can assess your skin and hair and allow enough time.
Areas include the upper lip, chin, sideburns, underarms and bikini line. We also offer Brazilian laser hair removal after assessing the external areas you want treated.
You can discuss full or partial arms and legs, chest, back, shoulders and abdomen. Treating several areas may need a longer appointment or separate visits.
Each area needs a safety assessment. Laser hair removal is not used on the eyelids, eyebrows or surrounding eye area, or directly over tattooed skin. Open wounds, lacerations and other damaged areas must be allowed to heal before treatment.

Darker, coarser hair generally provides a better target for the laser. Ample does not treat gray or red hair with laser hair removal because it will not work on those hairs. White and very light blond hair also respond poorly. We assess the actual hair before recommending a series.
Your skin tone, recent tanning, medical history and the area also affect suitability. Laser can be an option for a range of skin tones, but the device and settings must be appropriate. Ask about the clinician's experience with your skin tone and your risk of pigment changes.
We cannot perform laser hair removal over an open wound or laceration. If you have a cut, broken skin, a rash, cold sores or possible infection in the treatment area, tell us before the appointment. The area needs assessment, and damaged skin must heal before treatment.

Several sessions are usually needed, spaced weeks apart. The number and timing depend on the area, hair growth, skin and response. You may need additional treatment or later maintenance.
We review your skin and hair, health history, medicines, sun exposure and previous hair-removal methods.
We explain the areas, preparation, expected results, risks and fees before confirming the appointment.
We check how your skin and hair respond before arranging further treatment.
Smaller areas usually need less treatment time than larger ones. The appointment also includes preparation and assessment. Call to ask how much time to allow.

Avoid tanning, tanning beds and sunless tanners before treatment. Protect exposed areas with broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher and follow the office instructions about sun exposure and timing.
Waxing, plucking, threading and electrolysis remove the hair target. Avoid them before and during the treatment course as directed. Shaving is usually allowed; ask exactly when and how to shave before the visit.
Bring your medication and skin-care lists. Mention current or recent isotretinoin, medicines that affect sun sensitivity, a tendency to scar, cold sores, skin conditions and previous laser reactions. Also tell us about pregnancy, breastfeeding or a recent change in your health. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

We check the skin and preparation before starting. You need protective eyewear throughout the procedure. Each pulse may feel hot, snapping or stinging. Tell us if the discomfort feels excessive.
We will explain the settings and comfort measures for your treatment and check how you are feeling during the procedure.
Treated hairs shed gradually. At follow-up, we check shedding, regrowth and any skin concerns before planning another session.

Redness, warmth, swelling or tenderness may follow treatment and can last a few days. Many people resume routine activities, but skin response varies. Ask when to return to exercise, hot baths, swimming and skin-care products.
Protect the area from sun exposure and follow the written aftercare plan. A cool compress may ease discomfort if recommended. Avoid picking or scratching irritated skin, and ask when shaving can resume.
Possible complications include burns, blisters, infection, scarring, cold-sore outbreaks and darker or lighter skin. Some color changes can last. Rarely, hair growth may increase around a treated area. These risks should be discussed before treatment.

Yes. Bikini and Brazilian areas are available after assessment. Tell us which external areas you want treated, and ask about preparation when booking.
You can discuss several face and body areas at the consultation. We will confirm which areas are suitable, how much time is needed, whether to use separate appointments and the cost. Some skin surfaces, including the eye area, should not be treated.
Usually yes, following the office instructions. Avoid waxing, plucking, threading or electrolysis during the course as directed because they remove the hair target. Ask when to shave before your appointment and wait if the skin is irritated.
It may be an option after assessment. The device, settings, skin condition and operator experience matter. Ask about treatment experience with your skin tone and pigment-change risks. No treatment is risk-free or suitable for every person.
Tell the clinician about pregnancy, breastfeeding, current or recent isotretinoin and all medicines before scheduling treatment. These details can affect suitability and timing. Do not stop a prescribed medicine or choose a waiting period on your own.
Call or request a consultation ahead of time. We will confirm availability, preparation and the treatment areas. Ask whether treatment can be planned for that visit; urgent-care walk-ins do not reserve a laser appointment.
